On a day off, Jean and I went for a short trip inshore just to get some time together and on the boat. (She doesn't often get to go fishing with me.)
We didn't catch much as we tried for some trout and later scoped for some rays/cobia. Nothing. A few small black sea bass and some sand perch, all thrown back.
We trolled on the way back home and doubled up on spanish mackerel. Fun fights, and I landed mine first. I thought it was pretty good...at 18" that's a nice mackerel. And then she swung hers over the side and it hit the deck with a THUNK. A chunky 20" mackerel made mine look small.
That was her first mack. So it made a quick trip worthwhile!
